British Electric Lamps & Lighting
BELL has been established for over 80 Years and is one of the last British manufacturers of bulbs and light fittings. They have established a reputation for product quality and service efficiency that is the envy of the EU Lighting Industry. Their philosophy is to continually develop innovative and niche products such as decorative light bulbs and the new Energy Saving Downlighter, which produces a high-bright effect while only consuming 18 watts of power.
Our work with BELL started in 2004. The main site had been based by the railway line at Wimbledon Station for many years and Aires’s first job was to link and standardise the IT between Wimbledon and the Leeds office. Servers were upgraded from Windows NT to Windows Server 2003.
Eventually the Wimbledon site was sold and a new office was set up in Epsom, Surrey. Epsom then had to be re-linked to Leeds, using a new system that saved money on the old.
Today Aires supports the IT of around 30 employees in both offices, with full phone support and regular maintenance all part of the package.

Canonbury Management
Canonbury Management are the leading specialists in the residential Right to Manage process and Block Management. The Commonhold and Leasehold reform Act 2002 allows leasehold tenants to remove the company which manages their block and replace it with a better management company. This process can be difficult to complete without help so Canonbury have automated the process to allow it to be done without any risk of failure and at the lowest cost possible. On the Block Management side they have developed a system which allows their staff to manage residential blocks in the most effective and efficient way.
Canonbury host their Small Business Servers with Aires to give them more flexibility and space. They also host their website on our Servers, and we provide the links from these servers to the Canonbury offices.
As well as providing the usual IT support and maintenance we are currently looking at a project providing Voip ( Internet Telephony ) in order to save on telecommunications costs.

Gems Advisors
Gems is a research-driven, alternative investment company, formed in 1987. They have successfully managed money on behalf of clients located in over 20 countries around the world. Being one of the first managers in its field, the company has gained vast experience in global financial markets and hedge funds in particular.
The philosophy of research ( rather than attracting clients with marketing ) has given Gems a very good name in their Industry. The evidence for this is borne out by the long list of awards they have collected, most recently in March 2008 when Gems won another two at the InvestHedge Awards.
In 2004 Aires set up a new network from scratch using a Small Business Server running SBS 2003. Aires also host the e-mail for Gems in Argentina, Brazil, Bahamas and Israel, for gemsadvisors.com.
At the time of writing, Gems are planning to move their offices and Aires will be involved in this in order to ensure quick and careful hardware transfer, then ensuring that all the IT is backed up and running in the shortest time possible.

Rocket Badge Company
Rocket Badge is one of the UK’s most successful promotional badge and keyring designers and manufacturers. Marketing innovations such as the 14 day delivery guarantee and free graphic design have helped propel this company to the top of the premier league in their sector.
When Aires Technologies became involved in the IT during 2003 there were about 25 employees. Since then the workforce has grown to 60, and over the past five years Aires have migrated the old system twice. Originally Novell 4.11 was used as the networking architecture, then migration to Windows NT 4.0 and finally Windows Server 2003 took place. During the time of employee expansion, Terminal Servers were deployed to save our client money. Instead of buying individual Desktop Machines and networking them to one server, powerful Terminal Servers could host up to 15 employees who each have just a screen, keyboard, mouse and small, inexpensive "thin client" box on their desks.
Originally Rocket Badge used a Microsoft Access database, but when more powerful database tools became available, such as Microsoft CRM 3.0 ( Customer Relationship Manager ), it was decided to migrate to the new software. Since the installation in early 2007, Aires has customised Microsoft CRM and has also worked on programming certain functions for the client, outside the remit of the standard User Manual.
In addition Aires have fully maintained the networking system and offered full phone and on-site support to all workers at Rocket Badge. A new call-logging system was recently introduced that allows for prioritisation of any problems and also auto-alerts the Aires engineers wherever they happen to be.
